Veterinarian; application for recognition to use the designation for further training in the field of "public veterinary medicine"

Veterinarians can apply for recognition to use the advanced training designation for the field of "Public Veterinary Medicine".

The aim of continuing education in the field of "public veterinary medicine" is to provide veterinarians with the necessary special technical knowledge and skills, in particular for the application of public veterinary law, as part of a professional activity in public veterinary authorities and institutions.

Veterinarians who work as veterinarians in Bavaria or who, without working as veterinarians, have their usual place of residence in Bavaria, are recognized upon application to use the area designation "Public Veterinary Medicine" or the designation "Specialist Veterinarian for Public Veterinary Medicine".

After the prescribed period of further training in accordance with the further training regulations for veterinarians, they can apply for recognition for the field of "public veterinary medicine". Recognition confirms that the prescribed period of further training has been completed and that the area title "Public Veterinary Medicine" or the title "Specialist Veterinarian for Public Veterinary Medicine" can be used.

• You must submit the following document:
  • Officially certified copy of the licensing certificate
  • Officially certified proof of the specified veterinary activities
  • Officially certified copy of the examination certificate for the official veterinary service

They must have completed the prescribed training period of a total of three years of full-time veterinary work in state or municipal veterinary offices or in the organizational units responsible for veterinary matters in a government, an examination office or a supreme state veterinary authority in Bavaria. In the case of part-time employment, the prescribed periods are extended accordingly.

At least 18 months of the aforementioned time must be spent working as a veterinarian in veterinary offices. Training periods as part of a preparatory service are taken into account.

The application must be submitted in writing with the required documents to the responsible government.

The government in whose jurisdiction the veterinary profession is practiced is responsible.
