X-ray equipment and sources of interference; transmission of test reports by experts

X-ray equipment and sources of interference are subject to mandatory testing by experts in accordance with radiation protection legislation. Copies of the test reports and certificates issued by the experts must be sent to the relevant competent authority.

    Description

Anyone operating X-ray equipment or an interfering source must have it inspected by an officially appointed expert in accordance with Section 172 of the Radiation Protection Act prior to commissioning, in the event of significant changes and at five-year intervals. The expert must draw up a test report and, if applicable, a certificate on the test. The original is given to the operator, a copy is sent to the supervisory authority responsible for the operator.

The expert must send a copy of the test report to the supervisory authority responsible for the radiation protection officer within 4 weeks. This obligation also applies to the expert in the case of tests as part of the notification procedure for the operation or modification of the operation of an X-ray device or an interfering source.

This upload wizard allows experts to upload the test reports they have created in a timely manner and in compliance with data protection regulations so that they can then send them directly to the competent authority. It is no longer necessary to print out these reports and send them by post. Compared to sending them by e-mail, the advantage is that the transmission is legally secure and complies with data protection regulations. In addition, the sender receives an email confirming the successful transmission of the test reports.

    Prerequisites

The test reports must have been prepared by the officially appointed expert in accordance with § 172 of the Radiation Protection Act.

    Procedure

Experts can use the online procedure provided (see "Online procedure") to upload the test reports they have prepared promptly and in compliance with data protection regulations in order to then send them directly to the competent authority.

    • The inspection reports must be in PDF format.
    • After entering the name and address of the operator/operating site of the X-ray facility, the competent authority is determined.
    • After sending to the authority, the sender receives an e-mail confirming the successful transmission of the test reports.

Please note: It is not possible for operators outside Bavaria to send the test reports to the competent authority electronically. However, it is possible to determine the competent authority immediately by entering the zip code via a link, thus simplifying the sometimes time-consuming search for the experts.

    Deadlines

The expert must submit a copy of the test report to the competent authority within four weeks of the test (§ 183 paragraph 1 sentence 1 number 6 also in conjunction with paragraph 3 sentence 1 of the Radiation Protection Ordinance - StrlSchV).
