Weapons; notification of the acquisition of a weapon requiring a permit

If you acquire a firearm that requires a permit or transfer it to someone else, you must notify the competent authority within two weeks.

To acquire and possess firearms requiring a permit, you require prior official permission (firearms possession card [with previous entry if applicable] or hunting license). An application for this must be submitted to the district administrative authority responsible for you (see also "Related topics").

As soon as you acquire a weapon requiring a permit, transfer your weapon to someone else or modify your weapon by converting or replacing a significant part, you are obliged to notify the competent district administrative authority within two weeks.

It is recommended that you inform yourself in detail about the regulations of firearms law before submitting your application.

• Weapons possession card
• Weapons certificate or firearms certificate

  (if the firearm is purchased from a dealer, please also enclose a copy of the firearm certificate or firearm letter with the application)

• When purchasing a weapon: Authorization to purchase (gun ownership card [with previous entry if applicable] or hunting license)
• When handing over a weapon: the recipient's authorization to acquire the weapon

The competent district administrative authority must be notified within two weeks of the acquisition or transfer as well as the modification by conversion or replacement of a significant part.

Fees may be incurred for the entry of a weapon in the gun ownership card or the removal of a weapon from the gun ownership card.

Registration: EUR 15.00 for the first weapon plus EUR 7.50 for each additional weapon

Removal: EUR 10 for the first weapon plus EUR 7.50 for each additional weapon
