Municipal investments; application for funding to improve school infrastructure

Purpose

The municipal investment program for school infrastructure serves to strengthen the investment activities of financially weak municipalities and associations of municipalities to improve the school infrastructure of general and vocational schools, including special schools.

Object

Funding is provided for investments in school buildings:

• Refurbishment
• conversion
• Expansion, provided this is required for functional or school-related reasons and there is no significant increase in capacity
• Exceptionally, replacement construction (economic efficiency)
• As part of a refurbishment, conversion or extension measure:
  • Equipment, insofar as it concerns non-movable objects and systems that are permanently attached to the building
  • Supplementary infrastructure measures (also digital)
  • Measures to create accessibility

School buildings include all parts of buildings and facilities that belong to a general education or vocational school and are used for school operations.

Recipients of funding

Financially weak municipalities, administrative districts and boroughs were eligible to apply.

Type and amount

The prerequisite was acceptance into the funding program in the first half of 2018, which was preceded by an application process, the application deadline for which was 27 April 2018.

Administrative court action

All measures must be fully accepted by December 31, 2025. Proof of use must be submitted to the granting authority by June 30, 2026 at the latest.
