Healthcare profession; application for a clearance certificate to take up employment abroad

If you would like to work abroad in a healthcare profession (e.g. midwife, physiotherapist, speech therapist), you will generally need a "certificate of good standing". There are separate pages for licensed professions (e.g. doctor, dentist), see "Related topics".

    Description

The "Certificate of Good Standing" is proof of authorization to use the professional title in the healthcare profession in the Federal Republic of Germany. It also confirms that no professional or disciplinary measures have been taken or initiated. You will need the clearance certificate if you wish to practice your healthcare profession abroad.

The government in whose jurisdiction you currently practice or last practiced your profession is responsible for issuing the "Certificate of Good Standing" for the healthcare professions. The certificate is generally issued in German.

Please note that different requirements and responsibilities apply for the licensing professions (doctor, dentist, pharmacist, veterinarian, psychotherapist). Separate pages have therefore been set up for applying for a "Certificate of Good Standing" when practising a licensed profession. You will find the links below under "Related topics".
