Private primary and secondary schools; application for a special subsidy for the transportation of pupils with severe disabilities

Private primary and secondary schools approved by the school authorities can receive special subsidies for the transportation of pupils with proven severe disabilities.

Purpose

The state subsidies are intended to support private providers. Financial assistance for the transportation of severely disabled pupils at private primary and secondary schools.

Object

Private primary and secondary schools that are operated by a legal entity under public or private law and operate on a non-profit basis are granted special subsidies for the transportation of pupils with severe disabilities.

On the basis of Art. 32 para. 1 sentence 5 of the Bavarian School Financing Act (BaySchFG), the provider of a private primary or secondary school in the Free State of Bavaria may exceptionally be granted a subsidy for the transportation of a pupil in accordance with the state budget if

1. due to a severe disability evidenced by a severely disabled person's pass with the mark "G", "aG", "H" or "Bl", transportation with a special motor vehicle on the way to school is absolutely necessary and
2. the associated costs for the state are lower than for necessary transportation to another suitable school.

A two-year waiting period applies.

Beneficiaries

School authorities of private primary and secondary schools are eligible to apply.

The duration of the grant relates to the period of school attendance.

The funding is granted as a subsidy.

The type of grant is a personal grant.
Funding is provided for a period of 1 year(s).

Funding is provided in the form of a direct grant from the Free State of Bavaria to the school authorities.

Amount of funding:

School authorities can apply for subsidies for school transport if they have a proven severe disability (mark "G", "aG", "H", "Bl") and a special transport requirement, provided that these costs are lower than alternative transport options.

Prerequisites include

• Transportation of a pupil if, due to a severe disability as evidenced by a severely disabled person's pass with the mark "G", "aG", "H" or "Bl", transportation with a special motor vehicle on the way to school is required on an interim basis
• Proof of the non-profit status of the school authority (Art. 29 Para. 2 BaySchFG)
• Existence of a school supervisory approval of the school according to Art. 92 ff. BayEUG
• Benefits are only granted if the school has existed for at least two years without any significant objections from the school supervisory authority.
• Schools with fewer than 14 pupils do not receive a grant.

The special subsidy for the transportation of pupils with severe disabilities can be applied for informally at the responsible government. The respective location of the school is decisive for the local responsibility. The application must be submitted in writing to the government responsible for the location of the private primary or secondary school, together with all the necessary documents. After review, the government will decide whether to approve the grant.

The application period is 1 year(s). Term for the duration of school attendance

A processing time of 1 month(s) to 6 month(s) is to be expected.

There are no costs.
