Free balloon; application for an external launch permit

A general ruling has been issued for the launch of free balloons.

If the requirements are met, the general ruling is deemed to have been issued. In other cases, an individual permit must still be applied for.

The Northern Bavaria and Southern Bavaria Air Authorities have issued a general decree regulating the ascent of manned free balloons outside an airfield approved for balloon ascents and the re-ascent after stopovers. If the requirements specified therein are met, permission is deemed to have been granted.

In other cases, an individual permit must still be applied for from the responsible aviation authority.

The outdoor take-off area must be suitable for the project. This must be verified by an expert opinion.
