Special schools; application for a teaching staff subsidy

The Free State of Bavaria grants a subsidy for teaching staff at special schools whose employer is a local authority.

For teaching staff at municipal schools of a special type whose employer is a municipal body (e.g. municipality, district, county), the Free State of Bavaria grants the municipal school authorities a subsidy of 61% of the teaching staff costs for grammar and secondary school classes and 80% for middle school classes. The total teaching staff subsidy per special type of school calculated on this basis amounts to 95%. The calculation of the subsidy is based on the provisions of Art. 57 in conjunction with Art. 17 of the Bavarian School Funding Act. Art. 17 of the Bavarian School Financing Act (BaySchFG). The grant is awarded for the respective financial year.

It must be a special type of school (Art. 122 Para. 1 BayEUG) whose personnel expenses are borne by a municipal body.

Grants are usually awarded by the Bavarian State Office for Schools with payments on account in May and August and a statement of account including final payment in the fall of the respective year.

As the benefits are granted ex officio without an application, there are no deadlines to be met.

As a rule, the school's personnel expenditure provider of a special type receives a written notification by the beginning of December at the latest.
