Lay helpers; applying for funding for the care of the mentally ill

Purpose

The purpose of the grant is to make it easier for mentally ill people to participate in normal life and to break down prejudices.

Object

Funding is provided for expenses incurred by lay helpers in connection with the care of mentally ill people.

Recipients of funding

In principle, the associations of independent welfare organizations and their affiliated organizations are eligible to apply.

Eligible costs

A lump sum is granted per lay helper.

Type and amount

The grant is awarded as fixed-amount funding within the framework of project funding. The lump sum is granted as a subsidy and amounts to up to EUR 155 per lay helper per year. The grant is reduced by one twelfth for each full month that the lay helper was not active.

• For first-time funding, confirmation of the qualification and efficiency of the lay work (e.g. from the umbrella organization, social psychiatric service, registered psychiatrist, district hospital, health authority) must also be submitted.

Essential eligibility requirements:

• Lay helpers should belong to a group of at least four helpers and be involved in lay work on a voluntary basis, regularly and throughout the year.
• Professional supervision of the lay helpers should be guaranteed.
• For first-time state funding, the eligibility requirements should have been met for approximately one year prior to the approval period.

Applications

must be submitted to the government responsible for the applicant's registered office.

Approval

Applications for the current year must be submitted by March 1 of the current year.

Funding is provided without legal entitlement within the scope of available budget funds.
