Surveying in the construction industry; application for recognition as an inspection expert

In Bavaria, only those who are recognized in this specialist field may use the title "Prüfsachverständiger für Vermessung im Bauwesen" (test expert for surveying in construction).

Inspection experts for surveying in the construction industry certify compliance with the floor area and height of structures specified in the building documents or by the building authorities (§ 21 PrüfVBau). They are independent within the scope of their duties.

The registration committee at the Bavarian Chamber of Civil Engineers examines and decides on the recognition as an inspection expert for surveying in construction. The Bavarian Chamber of Civil Engineers maintains a list of recognized surveyors for surveying in civil engineering.

General requirements (apply to inspection experts from all specialist areas and disciplines, § 4 PrüfVBau):

Inspection experts can only be persons who

1. whose personality is such that they can guarantee that they will fulfill their tasks properly in accordance with § 5 PrüfVBau,
2. have the ability to hold public office,
3. work autonomously and independently,
4. have their registered office or a branch office in the Free State of Bavaria,
5. have a good command of written and spoken German.

Special requirements (§ 20 PrüfVBau):

Only persons are recognized as inspection experts for surveying in construction who

1. have completed a degree in surveying at a German university or an equivalent degree at a foreign university,
2. have three years of professional experience in surveying.

• Registration fee for members: EUR 300.00
• Registration fee for non-members: EUR 540.00
• In addition, there is an annual list maintenance fee of between EUR 0 and EUR 67.00, depending on membership and type of membership.

• Certificate of good conduct

  Proof of application for a certificate of good conduct for submission to a public authority

• Final and employment certificates (copy)
• Information on branches
• Information on any participation in a company whose purpose is the planning and execution of construction projects.
• Information on ownership and independence
• Evidence of compliance with the specific conditions
• Proof of at least three years' experience in the surveying sector
