List of external service providers; application for registration with the Bavarian Chamber of Architects

External architects and urban planners can apply for entry in the list of external service providers.

The professional titles "architect", "interior architect", "landscape architect" and "urban planner" may only be used in Bavaria by those who are entered under this title in the list of architects or urban planners at the Bavarian Chamber of Architects.

Non-resident architects, interior architects, landscape architects and urban planners, i.e. those who have neither a place of residence nor a branch office or predominant professional employment in Bavaria, may only use the professional titles if they

• either they are permitted to use the title on the basis of a regulation of a state of the Federal Republic of Germany in which they have their place of residence, establishment or predominant occupation, or
• if they fulfill the material requirements for entry in the relevant lists.

Foreign architects and urban planners who are not members of a German Chamber of Architects or who are not entered in a German list of urban planners must give prior notification of the first provision of services. They are listed in a separate register.

A certificate is issued for a period of five years for inclusion in the list of external service providers, which also states the authorization to use the professional title. The certificate may be extended for a maximum of five years upon application.

The registration committee at the Bavarian Chamber of Architects examines and decides on the entry in the lists and directories.

The right under Article 7 (3) of Directive 2005/36/EC to use the professional title of the country of establishment remains unaffected. The professional title must be used in such a way that there can be no confusion with professional titles under Art. 1 of the Act on the Bavarian Chamber of Architects and the Bavarian Chamber of Civil Engineers.

Corresponding proof from the country of origin (for EU citizens in accordance with the Professional Qualifications Recognition Directive) of a university degree and subsequent practical experience.

• for the applicant: none; notification of first-time provision of the service before commencement of the activity
• for the authority: three months after receipt of the application and complete submission of the documents
• or two months after receipt of the application and complete submission of the documents in the case of the accelerated procedure for skilled workers
