Women's shelters; utilization
Women and their children who are acutely affected or threatened by domestic and/or sexualized violence in their social environment can make use of women's shelters.
Description
Women's shelters provide shelter for women and their children who are acutely affected or threatened by domestic and/or sexualized violence in their immediate social environment. In addition to psychological support in regaining mental balance, the focus is on advice in family and social law matters as well as in questions of mental and physical health, assistance in dealing with authorities, legal information, accompaniment to appointments and referral to other contacts. Follow-up counseling is also possible after leaving the women's shelter.
The children admitted to the women's shelter receive professional educational support to help them cope with the violence they have experienced.
The women's shelters also offer women affected by violence outpatient counseling in connection with the problem of domestic violence and information on the Violence Protection Act.
