Medical examinations and medical reports; commissioning

The public health department issues medical reports, certificates and attestations on behalf of the authorities.

The official medical service carries out a wide range of examinations and assessments.

Medical reports and certificates are issued in the following cases, among others:

• in matters relating to employment law (e.g. health suitability of civil servant applicants, incapacity to work) on behalf of the employer
• on questions relating to benefits
• in the context of accident care
• in the context of social welfare assessments
• as part of a school medical assessment (e.g. missed examinations due to illness, compulsory medical certificates ordered)

• For the examination are usually needed:
  • Identity card or passport If applicable, completed medical history questionnaire (form "Basis for assessment").
  • Existing medical documents (medical reports, hospital discharge reports, X-ray findings, laboratory findings, ECG, etc.) as far as they are relevant for answering the question
  • Severely disabled person's certificate/notification from the pension office

Clients are usually public offices, authorities and similar institutions. In individual cases, private individuals can also contact the public health service directly.

As a rule, you will only be given an appointment for an examination if you have submitted a written examination request.

The medical records brought along and collected during the examination remain at the public health department and are subject to the usual duty of confidentiality.

The client receives an objective medical report. In the case of special questions, e.g. in the field of psychiatry or orthopaedics, other medical specialists may be consulted.

The costs are usually borne by the client. They are based on the scale of fees for the healthcare sector and the amount depends on the service.

In the event of an assessment of incapacity to take the examination, the costs must be borne by the applicant.
