If you would like to work as an expert for private wastewater pipes, you must be recognized by the relevant chamber or authority.
Description
Any private owner of a property who installs new wastewater pipes or significantly changes the installation is obliged to have their condition and functionality checked by experts.
You can apply for recognition as an expert for the inspection of such wastewater pipes at the chamber responsible for you.
The application must be processed by the responsible body within three months.
The prerequisites for recognition are a relevant educational qualification, at least two years of relevant professional experience and participation in a training course, including passing a theoretical and practical examination.

Prerequisites
You must fulfill one of the following requirements:
- Public appointment and swearing-in as an expert in a relevant discipline
- Engineer in a relevant technical field (e.g. civil engineering with at least three years of relevant professional experience)
- Master craftsman/master craftswoman in road construction, bricklaying and concrete construction (related to sewer construction), plumbing and heating construction or well construction, master craftsman/master craftswoman for pipe, sewer and industrial services and persons with an equivalent professional qualification in the relevant discipline
- Exemption permit in accordance with Sections 8, 9 of the Crafts Code or authorization to practice in accordance with Sections 7a, 7b of the Crafts Code in the relevant specialist field
- Completed relevant craft or industrial/technical training and at least two years of professional experience in the field in which you will be working, in particular
- Civil engineering technician specializing in pipeline or sewer construction
- Pipeline or sewer builder
- Specialist for wastewater technology
- Specialist for pipe, sewer and industrial services
In addition, the minimum knowledge of expertise in testing private sewage pipes must be demonstrated by attending a training course and passing an examination at a listed training institution.
You must fulfill one of the following requirements:

Complaint to the administrative court that has jurisdiction at the applicant's place of residence.

Before registering for a training course, applicants should check with their chamber or the Lower Saxony Water Management, Coastal Defence and Nature Conservation Agency (NLWKN) whether their professional qualifications and successful participation meet the requirements for recognition of their expertise.
