Ecclesiastical sponsors of alternative schools that have emerged from public schools can apply for a contribution to current material costs.

As a church sponsor of an alternative school that has emerged from a public school, you can apply for a contribution from the state of Lower Saxony towards the ongoing material costs.

The share of the contribution is calculated by multiplying the average number of pupils by the amount per pupil stipulated in the state-church contract.

The average number is the mean value of the number of pupils attending these schools on November 15 and March 15 of each school year.

• The number of pupils must be communicated by 15.11. and 15.03. of the calendar year at the latest with the application for reimbursement of personnel costs for the corresponding school year.

Action before the administrative court

You can apply for reimbursement of material costs for the previous school year.

• At the end of the school year, you must submit the completed application and the relevant attachments electronically to the Regional State Office for Schools and Education Lüneburg within one year.
• As part of the assessment, any payments on account will be offset against the calculated requirement.
• You will be informed of the decision following the review of the reimbursement of material costs.
