Applying for grants to promote inland fishing
The state of Lower Saxony grants funding to inland fishing companies from the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) and from the state of Lower Saxony.
Description
The federal state of Lower Saxony provides inland fishing companies with funding from the European Maritime, Fisheries and Aquaculture Fund (EMFAF) and from the federal state of Lower Saxony to promote economically, socially and ecologically sustainable, competitive and knowledge-based inland fishing.
Funding is only granted for projects that are in line with the German program for the EMFAF 2021-2027.
You will receive funding for, among other things
- Diversification and new sources of income
- Support services for vocational training
- Investments in gentle fishing techniques
- Replacement/modernization of engines to increase the energy efficiency of fishing vessels
- Support for the first purchase of a used fishing vessel for young fishermen and women

Prerequisites
- The fisheries or aquaculture company that is the recipient of the grant or a participating partner must be based in Lower Saxony. The investments must take place in Lower Saxony.
- The threshold values for eligible expenditure in accordance with No. 5.6 of the funding guidelines must be met.
- Funding recipients must meet the characteristics of an SME (small and medium-sized enterprise) as defined in Recommendation 2003/361/EC.
- The grant recipient or the person entrusted with the management of the business during the period of earmarking must in principle provide evidence of having passed the final examination as defined in Section 34 or Section 40 (2) BBiG for the profession of fish farmer.

Procedure
- You apply for funding for sea fishing by submitting all relevant documents to the LAVES.
- The granting authority decides whether your application is approved and issues a grant notification.
- Proof of use must be submitted after or during the implementation of the project.
- The proof of use is checked and the grant to be awarded is then determined by means of a notification.
- You now apply for payment of the grant.
