Apply for funding for bus stops using the simplified procedure

If you would like to carry out construction work at bus stops, you can apply for funding using the simplified procedure. In the simplified procedure, the costs of the measure per bus stop may not exceed 100,000 euros.

As the owner of public transport facilities or as a municipality or its associations (districts, municipal and special-purpose associations), you can apply for a grant for construction measures at bus stops.

Grants can be applied for jointly for a total of eight bus stops as long as the total costs per bus stop do not exceed EUR 100,000. Individual measures with total costs of less than €100,000 can also be applied for in this procedure, provided that the expected grant amount is at least €25,000.

The following individual components of a measure are eligible for funding:

• Waiting areas for passengers
• Bus bays (only if required for traffic reasons)
• Shelves for low-floor buses
• DIN-compliant guidance systems for the blind
• Bus stop signs
• Passenger shelter (sun and rain protection) for stops with more than 10 passengers per day with:
  • Litter garbage cans
  • Information display case for passenger information (timetable, map of the surrounding area, route network map, fare zones)
• Lighting system (integrated in the passenger shelter or outside the passenger shelter in the waiting area)
• Minor necessary structural adjustments to the surrounding area in terms of position and height
• Bicycle parking racks (maximum of 10 racks on the paved waiting area)

Applications must be submitted to the Landesnahverkehrsgesellschaft Niedersachsen (LNVG) by 31.05. of each year.

There is no entitlement to the grant.

The authority will decide on the basis of its dutiful discretion within the framework of the available budget funds.

• The funding must be used for public transport
• The total cost of each individual measure must not exceed 100,000 euros
• Funding is requested for a maximum of 8 measures together

• The type and scope of the project must be urgently required to meet the anticipated need to improve traffic conditions in line with the funding objectives
• The project must be in line with the requirements of the local transport plan
• The project must be planned in a structurally and technically sound manner in accordance with the recognized rules of technology and in compliance with the principle of economic efficiency and economy
• The project must take into account accessibility in accordance with Section 7 NBGG or include measures to remove barriers
• The measure must not have been started at the time of application
• Funding must be guaranteed
• The relevant disability representatives, disability advisory councils or, if necessary, corresponding associations must be consulted during the planning phase

Action before the administrative court

You can apply for funding for bus stops in the simplified procedure for a maximum of eight construction measures together

• You check whether the total costs of the individual measures do not exceed 100,000 euros each or whether the total costs of an individual measure are between 25,000 and 100,000 euros
• You submit the application together with all supporting documents to the competent authority by 31.05. of the respective year for the following year
• If documents are missing, the authority will request them
• If the authority makes a positive decision, you will receive a grant notification in the spring following submission
• The approval period begins when the grant notification is delivered and ends on 30.06. of the following year
• With the grant notification, the approved funding can be drawn down during the approval period

Incorrect information may result in the rejection or subsequent revocation of the decision or the respective stop.
