The amount of the grant can be up to 8,000 euros.

The funding decision is made by the Lower Saxony Ministry of Science and Culture. The Lower Saxony Literature Commission develops funding recommendations.

If applications have been submitted to several funding institutions, you as the applicant or grant recipient must inform the Ministry of this and also notify it immediately of a positive funding decision by another institution. Multiple funding is generally excluded.

• You can receive the children's and young adult book grant as an author if your project has a connection to Lower Saxony or if you live or work/produce in Lower Saxony.
• The grant can only be awarded for a high-ranking literary project whose texts are as yet unpublished.
• You will not be awarded a scholarship if you receive regular benefits from third parties (e.g. residence or work grants) or other funding from the state in the field of literature during 2024.
• Applications for projects that have already been rejected in a previous year can only be considered again after a thorough revision.
• In the event of funding, you agree to present the results of the planned project at an event financed by the state's cultural funding as part of the scholarship. You are not entitled to participate in such an event.
