Master craftsman's examination: exemption from examination parts or achievements

In the case of a master craftsman examination, you are exempt from taking individual

parts of the master craftsman's examination if you have a certificate corresponding to the respective part of the

master craftsman examination

In the case of a master craftsman's examination, you are exempt from taking individual parts of the master craftsman's examination if you have successfully passed an examination comparable to the respective part of the master craftsman's examination before a public or state-recognised educational institution or before a state examination board.

You are exempt from taking Parts III and IV if you have passed the master craftsman's examination in another craft subject to approval or exempt from approval or in a trade similar to a craft.

If you have successfully passed other German state or state-recognised examinations, you will be exempted from individual parts of the master craftsman's examination upon request if at least the same requirements are imposed on these examinations as in the master craftsman's examination. Foreign diplomas according to § 7 Abs. 2 Satz 4 Handwerksordnung (HwO) are equivalent to the final examination at a German university. On request, the master craftsman's examination board decides on exemptions on the basis of other foreign educational qualifications.

Upon request, you will be exempted from taking the examination in similar examination areas, examination subjects or fields of action if you have passed the master craftsman's examination in another craft or trade similar to crafts requiring or exempt admission or have successfully passed another comparable examination before a public or state-recognised educational institution or before a state examination board.

The exemption from examination parts or achievements is noted on the examination certificate.
