Apply for admission to a grammar school
Would your child like to continue their education at a grammar school? Then a written application to the relevant grammar school is necessary.
Description
In order to continue their education at a grammar school, pupils must register there in writing.
The grammar schools in Rhineland-Palatinate provide pupils with an in-depth general education and enable comprehensive personal development. In the gymnasiale Oberstufe, pupils can focus on specific subjects according to their talents and interests.
As a secondary school, the Gymnasium builds on the elementary school. In its traditional form, it comprises the intermediate level (secondary level I) and the upper level (secondary level II). In Rhineland-Palatinate, this is also known as the Mainzer Studienstufe. It comprises grades 11-13 in the nine-year course of education and grades 10-12 in the eight-year course of education. In the nine-year course of education, year 13 is shortened so that pupils who wish to study can complete the summer semester.
After successfully passing the Abitur (general higher education entrance qualification), pupils can either take up a course of study or begin vocational training.
