Recognition as a test expert for fire protection
Description
Since 01.10.2002, proof of preventive fire protection for buildings of building class 5 must be certified by an expert for fire protection in accordance with § 68 of the Hessian Building Code (HBO). The same applies to proof of preventive fire protection for buildings of building class 4, if they are not created by a person entitled to provide evidence. In the case of special constructions, the involvement of a fire protection test expert by the building supervisory authority may be considered. For the activity as a test expert for fire protection, recognition by the Chamber of Architects and Urban Planners of Hesse is required.

Required documents
A formal written application in paper form must be submitted to the Chamber of Architects and Urban Planners of Hesse (application for recognition as an expert for fire protection in accordance with §§ 16 ff. of the Hessian Ordinance on Authorized Inspection and Inspection Experts).
Proof of a relevant university degree as well as documents proving 5 years of job-specific experience must be provided.
If an entry in a comparable list from another country of the Federal Republic, another member state of the EU or a similar state is proven, the entry can take place under simplified conditions.
The following proof according to § 6 Abs. 2 HPPVO must be provided:

- Police clearance certificate
- Explanatory sheet
- Proof of professional indemnity insurance
Furthermore, proof of the special requirements pursuant to § 16 Abs. 1 HPPVO, namely proof of 5 years of fire protection professional experience, must be provided by means of an object list and detailed documents for 3 projects. The required knowledge must be proven by means of a written examination.

Costs
The fee for the recognition procedure is 600.00 Euro for members of the AKH and 700.00 Euro for non-members. In addition, the expenses incurred by the Chamber of Architects and Urban Planners of Hesse for the costs incurred during the procedure and participation in the examination are to be reimbursed proportionately by the applicants.
