List of architects, entry in a professional directory of the Chamber of Architects and Urban Planners of Hesse, application

The legally protected professional titles of architect, interior designer, landscape architect, urban planner and urban architect may only be used by those who are entered in a professional directory maintained by the Hessen Chamber of Architects and Urban Planners (so-called list of architects). With the registration as an architect, a comprehensive building submission authorization is acquired, with the registration as an interior designer a profession-specific building submission authorization. This is necessary in order to be able to act as draftsman for the construction or modification of structures and to obtain a building permit.

A formal written application in paper form must be submitted to the Hessen Chamber of Architects and Urban Planners. The professional competence required for the performance of the professional duties must be provided. This is regularly provided by proof of a relevant university degree and subsequent professional experience corresponding to the professional tasks of the respective subject area. If an entry in a professional directory of a chamber of architects of another federal state or a comparable professional directory of a member state of the EU or a country treated as such is proven, the entry can be made under simplified conditions.

• Confirmation of practical work
• Proof of professional indemnity insurance
• Birth certificate
• Police clearance certificate

The fee for entry in a professional directory is 325.00 euros. If there is an entry in a professional directory of another chamber of architects in the Federal Republic of Germany or if the deletion from a professional directory of another chamber of architects was not more than 3 months ago, the fee is half.
