Promotion of families with multiple children (from triplets) - honorary sponsorship by the Prime Minister of Hesse

The birth of multiples presents families with particular challenges: The care and supervision of infants and toddlers is usually almost impossible for the families concerned to cope with without support. Additional resources can help parents to cope with everyday life and support their children during this special phase of life. For example, they can make small purchases or, if necessary, hire helpers to provide short-term relief in the period after the birth.

In the case of multiple births (from triplet births), the Minister President of the State of Hesse assumes honorary sponsorship for children whose legal guardians have their main place of residence in Hesse at the time of birth and application. Within the framework of the funds provided in the state budget, the state of Hesse grants the family the following benefits on the basis of the sponsorship:

• 110.00 euros per month in the first year of life,
• 60.00 euros per month in the second year of life,
• 60.00 euros per month in the third year of life,
• 160.00 euros once for the fourth birthday,
• 160.00 euros once for the fifth birthday,
• 160.00 euros once for the sixth birthday and
• 300.00 euros for the first day of school.

In addition, the state of Hesse grants a pro rata assumption of the costs of acquiring the first swimming badge (at least early swimmer "Seepferdchen") of up to 100 euros per child up to the age of 11 (cut-off date: 01.01.2023).

These are voluntary state benefits. There is no legal entitlement to the benefits and there are no further obligations arising from the honorary sponsorship.

The persons entitled to custody are informed by the registrars of the municipalities about the possibility of taking over the honorary sponsorship and the funding opportunities as well as the necessary application. The locally competent authority forwards the application to the Hessian State Chancellery (granting authority).

• Proof of custody of parents other than biological parents
• Proof of school enrollment

The application must be submitted within the first 12 months after birth. In the case of applications submitted after the expiry of the one-year period, the grants will be granted from the month in which the application is submitted.
