Applying for a change to a registration certificate part II

Changes to your personal data (except in the case of a change of address alone) and certain technical changes to the vehicle must be entered in the registration certificate Part II (formerly the vehicle registration document).

The owner data is also entered in the registration certificate part II. You must therefore enter any name changes there, for example. You are also obliged to indicate technical changes to the vehicle that change the EC vehicle category, engine capacity, rated power, fuel type or energy source.

The locally responsible registration authority in the district or city (registration office). In the case of natural persons, responsibility is based on the place of residence of the vehicle owner (in the case of several residences, on the location of the main residence) and in the case of legal entities, tradespeople and self-employed persons with a fixed place of business, on the registered office or the location of the branch office involved.

• Registration certificate part I (formerly vehicle registration document),

• Registration certificate part II (formerly vehicle registration document),

• For companies, additionally business registration or extract from the commercial register,

• Identity card or passport with registration certificate from the residents' registration office or (for foreign citizens) foreign identity card and registration certificate from the residents' registration office.

If you authorize a third party to enter the change, they will need a written power of attorney from you. They must also present a copy of your identity document to the registration authority. The third party must have the relevant identity document with them in order to identify themselves.

Additionally for technical modifications:

• If applicable, an expert opinion from an officially recognized expert for motor vehicle traffic or a technical service or an acceptance certificate from a test engineer of an officially recognized monitoring organization,

• If applicable, operating license from the parts manufacturer,

• Proof of the general inspection,

• if the vehicle type has changed, a new electronic insurance confirmation.

In the event of technical modifications, the necessary expert reports must be submitted.

After the change in your personal data or the technical details of the vehicle has occurred, submit the data to be changed with the required documents to the competent authority. If necessary, a new registration certificate Part II will be issued to you there.
