Landscape conservation
Description
The aim of landscape conservation is to preserve and develop the landscape with its diversity and character, its habitats and its habitats for animal and plant species.
The range of tasks includes, in particular, measures to safeguard, maintain, restore and create near-natural habitats and habitats for native animal and plant species. In Hesse, landscape conservation measures are preferably carried out in NATURA 2000 areas (protected areas under the Habitats and Birds Directives of the European Union).
The state promotes landscape conservation through appropriately designed programs. The various measures are preferably implemented by the respective landowners and land users, generally farmers and forest owners.
