Have your fishing exam taken

If you would like to apply for a fishing license, you must first take and pass a fishing test.

    Description

In order to be issued with your first fishing license (see service "Issue or renew a fishing license"), you generally need to pass a fishing examination. In this examination, sufficient knowledge of the species of fish, the management of fish stocks and maintenance of fishing waters, the fishing gear and its use, the handling of caught fish and the regulations under fishing law, animal welfare law and nature conservation law must be demonstrated. If the respective legal requirements are met, the supreme fishing authority recognizes the state or state-recognized fishing examinations and fishing licenses of other federal states.

Among others, the following are exempt from taking the fishing examination

    1. Persons who have completed professional or master craftsman training as fishermen or persons who are currently undergoing such training,
    2. Persons who have successfully passed an examination in fisheries science during the training prescribed for the higher and higher state forestry service,
    3. persons who are scientifically trained in the field of fisheries or
    4. Persons who held a valid domestic fishing license on December 29, 1990 or within the last five years before this date, if they have already been issued a new fishing license after this date.
