All-day schools/all-day offers

The gradual expansion of all-day schools and schools with all-day offers in Hesse takes place on a voluntary basis and is geared to the needs of the respective region. With the all-day program, the state supports the responsible cities and districts. Great importance is attached to the close cooperation of the local schools with the school authorities (municipalities), youth welfare institutions and local music schools, sports clubs, support associations and other institutions.

In Hesse, there are different all-day profiles that offer the individual schools different creative possibilities:

• Schools with voluntary all-day offers at least three days a week (Profile 1)
• Schools with voluntary all-day offers five days a week (Profile 2)
• All-day schools with compulsory education and care five days a week (Profile 3).

In addition, the "Pact for the Afternoon" project supports all-day offers for the youngest pupils. It is a joint pilot project of the state and school authorities for primary schools and elementary levels of special schools to promote the demand-oriented expansion of education and care services five days a week and during school holidays.

In Hesse, the Ministry of Education and Cultural Affairs is responsible for the school system.
