Food (market surveillance)
Description
In the establishments of the food industry (producers, processing plants, packing centres, slaughterhouses and wholesalers, and in the distribution centres of the retail trade (the so-called "bottlenecks" of marketing) and importers, agricultural products of animal and plant origin as well as food and feed are checked by inspectors for compliance with EU uniform marketing standards, optional quality indications and European Quality regulations checked. Uniform quality criteria facilitate Community trade and thus ensure that the population is supplied with consistently high quality.
Monitoring activities take place in all market sectors, from beef, pork and sheepmeat, eggs
