School psychological counselling aims to support those seeking advice in finding the appropriate solution and coping with problems on their own responsibility.

School psychologists are subject to confidentiality. School psychological counselling is voluntary and free of charge.

Counselling services for pupils under the age of 14: We offer pupils under the age of 14 a one-time confidential consultation even without the knowledge of the parents. If further consultations are to take place, the consent of the parents or guardians must be obtained beforehand.

Counselling services for pupils between the ages of 14 and 18: From the age of 14, pupils can make use of school psychological counselling independently. The legal guardians are informed about the counselling by the counselling school psychologist, unless there are weighty reasons against it.

The respective regional responsibility of the school psychologists can be obtained from the State Education Office responsible for the school.

None. The offer of school psychological counselling is voluntary and free of charge. Each person who registers a need for counselling is also offered advice.

• Here, parents, pupils, teachers and school administrators can register for school psychological counselling in Hesse.
• Registration for counselling is sent by e-mail to the school psychologists of the state education office responsible for the school.
• Within the team of school psychologists of this state school authority, it is determined who is the contact person for the respective school (every Hessian school has a fixed school psychological contact person).
• The school psychological contact person of the respective school will contact the registrant by e-mail or telephone according to the stated preference of the person registering.

There are no deadlines to be observed.

Duration: 1 to 4 weeks

The waiting time until the start of a consultation depends above all on the counselling request and the availability of the person registering. In the case of counselling concerns that give rise to fears of an acute danger to oneself or others (emergencies and crises), contact and a first (telephone) consultation appointment usually take place on the same day.
