Traffic
Description
German traffic law consists of a large number of different laws. The most important laws of traffic law are the Road Traffic Act (StVG) and, based on this legal basis, the Road Traffic Act (StVO), the Road Traffic Licensing Regulations (StVZO), the Vehicle Registration Ordinance (FZV) and the Driving Licence Ordinance (FeV). Together, they regulate the personal requirements for participation in road traffic, important rules of conduct, necessary vehicle standards and the transport of persons and property on the various transport routes. Traffic monitoring measures contribute to improving road safety. Traffic controls, for example, are part of traffic monitoring. These tasks are carried out by the police and the auxiliary police officers of the cities and municipalities. The monitoring of stationary traffic is the responsibility of the cities and municipalities and the police.
Further information can be found on the website of the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure under "Road Traffic Regulations".
