Description
For some years now, it has been possible to obtain a license plate of your choice. Many registration offices now offer the option of selecting a license plate of your choice online from a license plate pool set up by the respective registration authority, regardless of opening hours.
License plates can be reserved for
- CARS / TRUCKS,
- motorcycles and
- seasonal and classic car license plates

Die antragstellende Person muss im Besitz eines neuen Personalausweises (nPA) oder eines elektronischen Aufenthaltstitels (eAT) mit freigeschalteter eID-Funktion sowie eines entsprechenden Kartenlesegeräts oder geeigneten Smartphones sein, mit dem die Daten ausgelesen werden können.
Auf dem für die internetbasierte Kfz-Zulassung verwendeten Endgerät (PC, Smartphone etc.) muss die "AusweisAPP2" installiert und gestartet sein.
Für Neufahrzeuge ist das Verfahren ohne Einschränkungen nutzbar, bei Gebrauchtfahrzeugen muss die letzte Zulassung dieses Fahrzeugs nach dem 1.01.2015 erfolgt sein.
Eine KFZ-Abmeldung ist ohne Personalausweis und zugehörige Ausweis-App möglich.

Procedure
Online reservation:
Select your desired license plate. If the license plate is still available, the license plate will be reserved for a certain period of time after you enter your name and address details, if applicable. You will receive confirmation of the reservation. Print out this confirmation and present it when you register your vehicle.
Otherwise, please observe the requirements of the responsible registration authority.
Please note:
There is no legal entitlement to the allocation of the reserved license plate when reserving online; you should therefore only obtain the license plates in advance if the confirmation from the registration authority shows beyond doubt that the reserved license plate will actually be allocated to you.
Deadlines
The reservation period is determined by the responsible licensing authority.
Costs
The fee for pre-reservation is based on the scale of fees for road traffic measures (GebOSt); it is currently EUR 12.80 and is payable when you register your vehicle.
