Driving ban and withdrawal of driving license
This service is provided by the judiciary.
Description
Driving bans and disqualification from driving as a result of a criminal conviction have different meanings.
A driving ban of between one and six months may be imposed if the (stricter) requirements for a driving license revocation are not met. The prohibition period begins after the judgment becomes final as soon as the driving license is taken into official custody, but no later than one month after the judgment becomes final After the driving ban expires, the driving license is automatically returned or sent back.
If the driving license is revoked by the court, the right to drive a motor vehicle expires when the judgment becomes final and the driving license is then confiscated.
If you want to drive again in the future, you must apply for a new driving license. The driving license can only be reissued after the expiry of a blocking period set by the court in the judgment. The road traffic authority decides on the reissue in accordance with the provisions of the StVG and FeV.
