Applying for approval of a temporary building

Do you want to erect and use temporary structures for the first time? You will need a building permit for this.

    Description

Temporary structures are structures that are suitable and intended to be repeatedly erected and dismantled at different locations (e.g. fairground rides, tents, etc.).
Temporary structures require a construction permit with an inspection book. An application must be submitted to the licensing authority for the initial issue of the permit.
The construction permit and the inspection logbook are issued by the approval office of the Giessen Regional Council.

    Required documents

In particular, two copies of the building documents are required:

    • the tested static calculation with test report from a recognized testing body for temporary structures,
    • Construction and operating description of the temporary structure
    • Drawings with detailed illustrations of the temporary structure,
    • the test report on an acceptance test, as well as certificates and proof of materials.

    Prerequisites

The execution license is granted if

    • the documents described are complete and
    • no objections arise from the evaluation of the test reports mentioned.

    Procedure

To apply for a building permit, two copies of the inspected building documents are submitted to the approval office of the Giessen Regional Council.

Once all the required documents have been submitted and the inspection reports do not give rise to any objections, the approval office issues a decision on the granting of the building permit and submits the documents and the building permit to a bookbinder.

As soon as the documents have been bound into a book, the inspection book is sent to the applicant. Alternatively, the inspection book can also be collected by appointment.

    Deadlines

Before they are erected and put into use for the first time, temporary structures require a so-called construction permit, which is issued by the building supervisory authority. The permit is valid for between 1 and 5 years, depending on the type of installation and design, and can be extended by the period of validity of the implementation permit. Construction permits from other federal states are also valid in the state of Hesse.

Application deadline: 6 to 8 weeks (After receipt of the complete documents.)

    Processing time

6 to 8 weeks (The duration also depends on the time of application. (In spring, the processing time can be longer due to the many trade fairs and festivals).)

    Costs

Costs: 2.3 % of production costs

    Notes (specifics)

Please note that the required documents vary depending on the type of temporary construction. In principle, all components must be certified as construction products. Alternatively, the manufacturer's certification can be verified in accordance with the design standard. If, for example, tarpaulins are used, they must be certified as flame-retardant in accordance with DIN 4102. The construction must be verified by a static calculation and tested by a recognized testing body.

The inspection body checks both the static calculation and the system on site.
