Report damage to local crossings of federal roads and their paths
If you discover damage to local thoroughfares on federal highways, you can report it.
Description
Damaged roads and paths can have serious consequences for all road users. Damaged areas include frost heave, potholes, major longitudinal and transverse unevenness, open joints and cracks as well as poor drainage on the road surface. By reporting this, you are actively contributing to road safety.
Either the respective federal state on behalf of the federal government or the respective municipality is responsible for local thoroughfares of federal roads. The municipality is responsible if
- its population exceeds 80,000 or
- it has voluntarily retained or assumed responsibility for road construction on the through road.
As a rule, the municipality is also responsible for footpaths.
After your report, the responsible authority will check whether and when it is possible to secure the danger spot and repair it.
