If you are planning or want to perform with pyrotechnic objects such as fireworks in film, musical and television venues as well as in theaters and at concerts, you must apply for a permit.

You require a permit for testing and demonstrations in the presence of visitors and performers if you

• are planning a stage performance with pyrotechnic effects or flammable acts or
• eor want to demonstrate explosive substances or flammable acts in film and television production facilities.

If applicable, proof of the certificate of competence or proof of the permit

• You must be of legal age to obtain a permit.
• You do not need to meet any further requirements for T1 category effects.
• A permit or certificate of competence is required for T2 category effects.

An appeal against the decision may be lodged with the competent authority within four weeks of notification.

You can apply in writing and online for the approval of pyrotechnic articles for testing and demonstration in the presence of visitors and performers in television, musical and film venues as well as in theaters and at concerts. The application is submitted to the competent authority.
If you wish to apply for a permit in writing:

• Once the application has been received, it will be formally checked and any missing documents will be requested.
• The eligibility for approval (approval of pyrotechnicians, effect devices, distances, etc.) will be checked.
• If the application and the submitted documents are not approved, the pyrotechnician and the applicant will discuss any necessary changes. If the examination is passed, an appointment will be made to test the pyrotechnic effects and/or flammable acts in the presence of the pyrotechnician.
• Conditional approval is granted.
• The effects are tested and an acceptance report is drawn up on site. The permit is now issued in full.

If you want to apply for the permit online:

• You call up the online service
• You can continue without logging in again; you can also log in via the Business service account. Your company data can then be automatically transferred from the service account to the online application after initial registration.
• Fill in all mandatory and, if applicable, optional fields
• All necessary documents must be submitted to ensure fast processing by the authorities. You can upload supporting documents for this purpose.
• The remaining procedural steps correspond to the written procedure.

The permit must be applied for at least 2 weeks before the date of the stage performance.

Processing takes at least 14 days, depending on the work involved.

EUR 53.00 per half hour of work, including travel time, office working time and acceptance on site
Travel allowance: EUR 8.10
