The place of residence is noted in your passport. If your place of residence in Germany changes, you must have the new place of residence entered in your passport. If your new address is in the same place of residence, you do not need to have your passport amended.
Description
Only the place of residence is entered in your passport, not the exact address. The place of residence in your passport only needs to be changed if your place of residence in Germany changes.
You can have the place of residence entry in your passport changed in person or by a person authorized in writing at the authority responsible for you at your new place of residence.
If you move abroad and have a new place of residence there, you can have your place of residence entered abroad. If your place of residence abroad has not yet been determined, you can have your current place of residence entered.

Das Lichtbild kann direkt vor Ort im Bürgerbüro erstellt werden.
Die Stadt Pfungstadt bietet diesen digitalen Foto-Service bereits seit dem 01.10.2024 an.

Für das Bürgerbüro (Meldeamt) bieten wir Ihnen die Möglichkeit, einen Termin für die Bearbeitung Ihrer Anliegen online zu buchen.
Termine sind mit einer Vorlaufzeit von drei Wochen buchbar:

Bei hohem Kundenaufkommen muss gegebenenfalls ein flexibler Annahmeschluss festgelegt werden. Wir bitten um Ihr Verständnis.
Terminsprechstunde & Schnell- und Abholschalter
Seit 1. März 2025 bietet das Bürgerbüro zur Klärung Ihrer Anliegen, zusätzlich zur bekannten Terminsprechstunde, für festgelegte Dienstleistungen einen Schnell- und Abholschalter an.
Die Leistungen sind nun in „Terminsprechstunde“ und „Schnell- und Abholschalter“ eingeteilt.
Die Leistungen der Terminsprechstunde werden weiterhin ausschließlich nach Terminvereinbarung bearbeitet. Hinsichtlich der Leistungen am Schnell- und Abholschalter können Sie entweder während der Sprechzeiten direkt zu uns kommen (ggf. mit Wartezeit) oder auch hierfür einen Termin buchen.
Im Bereich der Schnell- und Abholschalter wird ein Nummerngeber aufgestellt, sodass Sie beim Betreten des Bürgerbüros eine „Wartenummer“ ziehen können, die in der Folge aufgerufen wird.
In diesem Zuge wird der Haupteingang wieder geöffnet – sowohl für das Erdgeschoss als auch für die oberen Stockwerke.
Annahmeschluss ist 15 Minuten vor Schließung (betrifft den Schnell- und Abholschalter)

Stärkung der Sicherheit durch Verfahren zur digitalen Übermittlung der LichtbilderDie gesetzlichen Maßnahmen sollen eine Übermittlung manipulierter Fotos (hoheitliche Dokumente) verhindern, indem das Lichtbild seit dem 01.05.2025 ausschließlich digital erstellt und auf einem gesicherten elektronischen Weg an die jeweilige Behörde übermittelt wird. Somit dürfen ab diesem Zeitpunkt keine vorgelegten Lichtbilder mehr angenommen werden.

Procedure
If your place of residence in Germany changes:
- Contact the registration office responsible for you.
- You can authorize another person in writing to change your place of residence in your passport at your local registration office.
- You can have your passport amended at the same time as you re-register in Germany. To do this, present your valid passport when you re-register.
- The registration office will affix an official residence sticker with your new place of residence to a free space in data field 11 or on the page for official endorsements in your passport.
If your place of residence changes abroad:
- You can register with the German diplomatic mission responsible for your new place of residence abroad, for example at an embassy or consulate.
- There is no obligation to register with a German diplomatic mission abroad.
Deadlines
After moving to a new place of residence in Germany, you must have your place of residence entry in your passport changed immediately.
