Applying for recognition as a test expert for surveying in the construction industry

If you are an engineer, you can become a surveyor under certain conditions.

Surveyors check and certify that the floor area of the building and its elevation have been staked out on the property in accordance with the building templates.

If the stakeout is carried out by the surveying expert himself/herself, the test is not required. If it is finally established that the certificate cannot be issued, the inspection experts inform the lower building supervisory authority.

The Chamber of Engineers of Hesse is responsible.

• Proof of a degree at a German university or an equivalent degree at a domestic or foreign university in the field of surveying
• Proof of at least two years of professional experience in the on-site execution of surveys
• Proof of the required measuring instruments and tools
• 10 reference projects to prove that during the last two years, stake-outs of buildings have been certified with reference to the property boundary
   

You must have completed proof of an engineering degree in surveying at a German university or a degree equivalent in terms of professional qualification at a domestic or foreign university and have acquired at least two years of professional experience in the local execution of surveys in the real estate cadastre with reference to the border.

You can file an objection.

After you have submitted the application for registration as an audit expert, the Surveying Registration Committee will review your submitted 10 reference projects.

After successful examination of the reference projects, you will receive your certificate of registration for surveying.

Annual fee: Administrative fine 125,00 EUR

One-time procedural fee: Administrative fine from 159,00 EUR to 265,00 EUR
