Erection of aviation obstacles Approval

At least 4 weeks before erecting an aviation obstacle for which no building permit is required, apply for an aviation permit from the relevant state aviation authority.

    Description

If you erect structures, trees or equipment or create depressions in the ground, the safety of air traffic may be endangered. Therefore, under certain conditions, you will require an air traffic permit from the relevant state aviation authority.

In the case of structures that require a building permit, this permit is issued by the responsible building authority as part of the building permit procedure. For the erection of structures, equipment, trees or depressions in the ground for which you do not require a building permit, submit the application directly to the responsible state aviation authority.

The height limits for the permit requirement are based on the distance of the object from airfields (including heliports or airports) and the height of the object in meters above ground and in meters above sea level. In construction protection areas of airports, there are different height limits from 0.00 meters to 100 meters above ground level as well as different distance radii (inside and outside approach sectors) in relation to the respective airport reference point.

Approval is also required for aviation obstacles outside the construction protection area from a height of 100 meters above ground level or, if applicable, on ground elevations. In the case of aviation obstacles below 100 meters above ground level that are planned in the vicinity of gliding areas or landing sites (e.g. also special helicopter landing sites) without a construction protection area, the state aviation authority must also be contacted to ensure the safety of air traffic. Information on the approval requirement for your project can be obtained from the responsible state aviation authority.

    Note:
The Federal Armed Forces Aviation Office in Cologne-Wahn is responsible for aviation obstacles in construction protection areas of military airfields.
Submit the application at least 4 weeks before the start of the project. Please state the type of obstacle, the location (location coordinates in degrees, minutes and seconds in WGS84) and the height in meters above ground level and in meters above sea level of the top of the obstacle as well as the date of installation and, in the case of temporary obstacles, the duration until which the obstacle will be in place.
