Subsidy for old-age provision for caregivers Provision
Carers can receive a subsidy towards their pension provision
Description
Caregivers in full-time care (§ 33 SGB VIII) and suitable caregivers in the placement of a mentally disabled young person (§ 35a para. 2 sentence 2 no. 3 SGB VIII) can receive half of the subsidy for an appropriate pension plan. This also applies to standby/transitional and weekly care. Due to the undefined definition of "adequate old-age provision" in social legislation (SGB VIII), the determination of the amount to be paid is left to the respective federal states. For this reason, the amount of the subsidy may vary depending on state law.
The pension allowance is granted to one caregiver. In the case of caregiver couples, the main caregiver (according to the assistance plan) receives the allowance. If both caregivers are named in the assistance plan, this is usually the person with the lower volume of employment if both caregivers work different hours. In the case of equal employment volumes, the caregivers determine which of them should receive the pension allowance.
