Obtain certification of the required expertise in radiation protection
If you work in the technical field of radiation protection as a radiation protection officer (SSB) or expert radiation protection officer (SSV), you must have the necessary specialist knowledge. This must be checked and certified by the competent authority.
Description
If you intend to operate an X-ray facility or handle radioactive substances, you must provide evidence of the necessary specialist knowledge in radiation protection in the form of a certificate as an expert radiation protection officer (SSB) or expert radiation protection supervisor (SSV).
The acquisition of specialist knowledge consists of suitable training for the respective area of application, expertise (practical experience in accordance with the guidelines) and successful participation in a recognized specialist knowledge course.
You then apply to the competent authority for a certificate of professional competence. The authority will then examine your documents and the requirements and, if the examination is positive, will certify your specialist knowledge.
It should also be noted that you must update your specialist knowledge after five years at the latest.
