Obtain a craft card as a certificate for entry in the Register of Craftsmen

If you have been entered in the register of skilled crafts with your trade subject to registration, you will receive the skilled crafts card as proof.

Registration in the register of skilled crafts is required if you wish to operate a skilled craft subject to licensing on a self-employed basis in Germany. This also applies if you only want to practice a significant part of a craft subject to licensing on a self-employed basis.
Registration in the register of skilled crafts is possible for

• natural or legal persons and
• partnerships with legal capacity.

The Chamber of Crafts issues a certificate of registration in the form of a craftsman's card. On the handicraft card is noted:

• Name and address of the owner,
• the place of business,
• the craft(s) to be operated which is (are) subject to licensing,
• date of registration,
• if applicable, the name of the management or the partner responsible for the technical management.

You do not need to renew the craft card annually, as it will remain valid until there is a change in the data provided.
