Applying for a class T driving licence

With the "Great Tractor Driving Licence" you can drive more powerful vehicles in agriculture and forestry.

You can apply for a category T driving licence.

With the driving license class T (colloquially "large tractor driver's license") you can drive more powerful vehicles in agriculture and forestry. This class may be used to drive tractors up to 60 km/h. For self-propelled machines and feed mixers, a maximum speed of 40 km/h applies. Here, too, a trailer may be pulled additionally.

Category T shall be issued for an unlimited period.

Driving licence category T is a national category. It does not automatically apply in other countries.

Please contact the relevant driving licence authority (usually that of the place of residence).

• Designation of a driving school
• Identity card or passport (including registration certificate if applicable)
• a biometric photograph, according to the provisions of the passport regulation (35 x 45 mm, portrait format, frontal shot). Further information can be found in the photo sample board of the Bundesdruckerei.
• Proof of participation in a training course in first aid
• Proof of vision according to Annex 6 No. 1.1 to the FeV (not older than 2 years)

You must apply for a category T driving licence from the driving licence authority responsible for you.

The application for the first issue of a driving licence shall lapse if the theory test has not been passed within twelve months of receipt of the test order.

The processing time depends on the workload of the respective competent authority.

The fees are determined by the competent authority in accordance with the applicable scale of charges for road transport measures (GebOst).

There is no probationary period for the category T driving licence.
