    Prerequisites

Health aids are given to persons,

    • who do not have statutory or sufficient private health insurance,
    • the provision of services via the health insurance fund is out of the question
    • and for whom it is not reasonable to raise the funds for the necessary assistance from income and assets.

An objection may be lodged against decisions of the competent social assistance institutions within one month of notification.

After completion of the opposition proceedings by means of an objection decision, an action may be brought before the Social Court within one month of notification.

    Procedure

    • You contact the social welfare office responsible for you. There you can ask for advice and support or submit an informal application.
    • The competent authority will ask you to fill in a form and, if necessary, submit further documents.
    • If all documents are available, the social welfare office will check on the basis of your information whether or to what extent you will receive help with your health.
    • After reviewing your application, you will receive a notification of approval or rejection.

    Deadlines

There are no deadlines to be observed. However, the competent social assistance institution can only grant assistance after it has become aware of the need. Therefore, it is important to submit an application as soon as possible and to comply with the deadlines set by the social welfare office for the submission of documents.

    Processing time

As a rule, a decision on the application will be taken as soon as possible, especially if there is urgency. However, the processing time depends on the individual case and, inter alia, on the completeness of the information and the submission of the evidence required for the processing of the application.
