If you need weapons or ammunition as traditional shooters for the maintenance of customs, you must apply for a permit.

If you need weapons and ammunition as a traditional shooter for the maintenance of customs, a need for their acquisition and possession is recognized. The permit is limited to single-shot long guns and up to three repeating long guns as well as the ammunition intended for them. As proof, you need a certificate from the Bräuumsschützenvereinigung that you need these weapons to maintain the customs. An indication of customs is a long-standing tradition and practice. The use of weapons must only be a necessary component of the maintenance of customs and not the predominant purpose.

• You are at least 18 years old.
• They are reliable in the sense of the Weapons Act.
• They are personally suitable within the meaning of the Weapons Act.
• They are competent within the meaning of the Weapons Act.
• They have a need within the meaning of § 16 of the Weapons Act.

You can obtain permission as follows:

• You submit an application and submit the necessary documents,
• the required documents are checked, if necessary you must submit further required documents,
• Your age, reliability, personal suitability, expertise and needs are examined (§ 4 paragraph 1 numbers 1 to 4 WaffG),
• the decision on weapons law is made.

• Administration fee: EUR 51 plus at least EUR 22 surcharge for reliability and suitability test to be carried out
