Appointment of Operations Officer for Water Protection

The authority may also order the appointment of a water protection officer in addition to those already obliged to do so.

The competent authority may order that

1. the dischargers of waste water into bodies of water for which there is no obligation to appoint water protection officers in any case
2. the dischargers of waste water into waste water installations
3. the operators of installations for the handling of substances hazardous to water pursuant to section 62 subsection 1 WHG,
4. the operators of pipeline installations pursuant to No. 19.3 of Annex 1 to the Environmental Impact Assessment Act

must appoint one or more water protection officers.
