Exceptions to the authorisation requirement to acquire and possess a weapon Authorisation

You can apply for an exemption from the permit requirement for the acquisition and possession of weapons.

Basically, you need a permit to acquire and possess weapons. Deviating from this, there are specifically named exceptional cases. In addition, you have the option of applying for an exception in individual cases, provided that there are special reasons and there are no objections to public security and order. However, this is only possible for cases that are comparable to the specifically named exceptional cases.

• Interests of public security and order do not preclude this:
• there is comparability with the exceptional cases mentioned in § 12 of the Weapons Act,
• existing licensing requirements are not circumvented,
• there is an isolated case.

You can get an exception as follows:

1. You submit an application and submit the necessary documents,
2. the required documents are checked, if necessary you must submit further required documents,
3. the requirements of § 12 paragraph 5 WaffG are examined,
4. the decision on weapons law is made.

There are no deadlines to be observed.
