If you want to offer low-threshold care services to people in need of care, you must first have them recognized. The application for the recognition of offers according to § 45a SGB XI is made individually in the federal state in which the offer is made.

Offers of support in everyday life help to relieve the burden on caregivers and help those in need of care to stay in their home environment for as long as possible, to maintain social contacts and to be able to cope with their everyday lives as independently as possible. Offers for support in everyday life are

1. offers in which, in particular, volunteers take over the care of people in need of care with general or special care needs in groups or at home under nursing guidance (care services),
2. Offers that serve the targeted relief and advisory support of family caregivers and comparably close caregivers in their capacity as caregivers (offers to relieve caregivers),
3. Offers that serve to support those in need of care in coping with general or care-related demands of everyday life or in the household, in particular in housekeeping, or in the independent organization of individually needed assistance (offers to relieve the burden in everyday life).

If you would like to offer support in everyday life, you need recognition under state law.
Each federal state has a competent authority that is responsible for the recognition procedure.

The local authority is the magistrate or the district committee in whose area the provider intends to provide the offer. If the provider wishes to provide the service in several districts or independent cities, the municipal authority or district committee in whose area the provider is based is locally responsible. Providers who are not based in Hesse can decide for themselves in which district or independent city they apply for recognition as an offer of support in everyday life.
