Apply for extension of the travel business card

If you want to carry out an activity in the travel trade, you need a travel trade card. You can have a temporary travel trade card extended by the competent authority. You can find out more here.

If you want to be self-employed in a traveling trade, you generally need a traveling trade permit.

You operate a travel trade if you are active as a showman or showwoman, "flying trader" or owner of a market stall, i.e. if you offer your services or goods at constantly changing locations.

According to the law, the following commercial activities are classified as travel trade under the Trade, Commerce and Industry Regulation Act:

• the purchase and sale of goods
• the offering of services
• the solicitation of orders for services
• the performance of entertainment activities as a self-employed showman or according to the showman type.

The travel trade permit can be issued with a time limit, if this is necessary for the protection of the general public or consumers.

If you have a temporary travel business card and wish to extend it, you must apply to the competent authority.

Depends on the respective national law

• Travel trade card
• Identity card or passport with certificate of registration
• Certificate of good conduct for submission to an authority (document type O)
• In the case of legal entities, these documents must be provided for all persons authorized to represent the company by law, the articles of association or the partnership agreement (e.g. managing directors, board members).
• If applicable, excerpt from the Commercial Register or Register of Associations, insofar as the company is entered in the register. If the company is a GmbH & Co. KG, a corresponding excerpt for the GmbH and the KG must be submitted
• Certificate from the public health office confirming instruction in accordance with the Infection Protection Act or official health certificate (only for the serving of open food and the serving of meals)

In order for the competent authority to renew your travel business card, you must already be in possession of a travel business card.

• Objection (depending on state law, the right of appeal may be excluded)
• Action before the administrative court

If you have submitted the application for the extension of your travel business card and all documents are complete, the responsible office will check whether the relevant requirements are met.

If all requirements are met, your travel business card will be extended.

The amendment of the travel trade card is to be awaited.

If the documents are complete, the application will be processed promptly.
