Give up your job as a district chimney sweep

You would like to give up your position as an authorized district chimney sweep or be authorized district chimney sweep? To do so, you must contact the competent authority.

Anyone who wishes to give up their position as an authorized district chimney sweep or their position as an authorized district chimney sweep can apply to the competent authority to have their appointment cancelled. The district chimney sweep must then apply for deletion from the register of trades and, if necessary, deregister his or her trade if the entire activity is to be discontinued.

The competent authority may cancel the appointment as authorized district chimney sweep at the request of the person concerned.

However, it ends at the latest at the end of the month in which the appointed person reaches the age of 67.

Administrative court action

Objection (depends on the respective state law)

• Once you have submitted the application and all the documents are complete, the competent authority will check whether you meet all the requirements.
• If you meet all the requirements, the competent authority will issue a notice releasing you from the post of authorized district chimney sweep.
• The competent authority must immediately notify the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control of the cancellation of the appointment for the purpose of maintaining the chimney sweep register by the competent authority.
