Card driving licences issued from 19.01.2013 are valid for 15 years. If your driving licence is about to expire or if it has expired, you will need to apply for a new licence.

If the validity of the driving licence is about to expire or if the validity has expired, you must apply for a new driving licence, unless you renounce the driving licence.

However, the time limit only affects the driving licence document, not the underlying driving licence.

You must submit an application to the driving licence authority responsible for you (usually that of your place of residence).

Please remember to apply for your driver's license well in advance of expiration.

The fee is based on the scale of charges for road transport measures (GebOSt)
